Busy summer spent mostly online case-studying my way through Public School Law. I can think of about 5000 things that would have been more fun to do! Here it is almost September now. Ben just got back from Haiti, and Jamie is working two jobs in town. Jordan and Jenny are doing well in California...just too far away. Can't wait to see Davidino again! Niles and I are in Waynesboro, NC here in this picture. We're the ones in the middle :-)

LEWISTON — Chaos spread across the city Wednesday afternoon as the Cowan Mill on the shore of the Androscoggin River went up in flames. Buildings around it were showered with falling cinders.

That happened at about 4:20 p.m. when embers from the burning Cowan Mill floated down onto the roof of Bates Mill No. 5, setting the saw-tooth-roofed building across the street on fire.

Okay, one more for today. I saw this on my homepage (Sun Journal in Maine, Jan. 2010). It was called "Ice Cave." (This is the winter view of the above scene...just "zoom in.")

This one kills me...from Jamie's trip to Shanghai last week. It's a pigeon (even though it looks like a frog in jeopardy) and, yes, he ate it.

This is a birthday gift from my friend, Patrick. I was totally surprised--I had admired this little table in a junk/antique store that we were in, and he went back and bought it for me! It's adorable.

Time for a new post! Here's the preparation for Valentine's dinner...filet mignon, scallops, asparagus, good crusty bread...yum!
